Puppy socialisation
Socialisation and training can help prevent behaviour problems. Our socialisation classes are held on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. Puppies can start from one week after they have had their first vaccination and each puppy can attend for four weeks.
Puppies will be introduced to different people of all ages and other breeds of puppies. Exercises carried out include:
- Demonstrations of basic training and opportunities to practice.
- Teaching your dog to focus on you while other people and animals are around.
- Introducing your puppy to our sounds CD to help prevent noise phobias.
- Introduction to the weighing scales in the practice and how to introduce your puppy to other strange objects.
Puppies will be allowed brief supervised play sessions during intervals and advice will be given about their behaviour and interactions with each other. A question and answer session allows owners to have the opportunity to get advice about the general upbringing of their puppy.
The classes offered to all registered clients and are run by our veterinary nurses and receptionists.
